Welcome to the Lake Travis Democrats Website.
This has been a very successful year for the Lake Travis Democrats and with the U.S. House of Representatives’ health care bill vote; it is bound to get even better.
In February, I had the honor of being elected for a second term as president of the Lake Travis Democrats. The Lake Travis Democratic Club is a friendly, energetic organization that meets once a month, the 2nd Tuesday of each month at the Lakeway Activity Center. Our meetings begin with a wine and cheese social from 6:30 to 7:00, and the program begins at 7:00pm. There are speakers, elected officials, volunteer projects, timely topic discussions and lively conversation. Our meetings adjourn around 8:30.
We have increased our membership with attendance at each of our club meetings consistently drawing between 60 to 75 interested and interesting Democrats. We have had the honor of hosting wonderful speakers including Congressman Lloyd Doggett, former Houston Mayor Bill White (candidate for Texas Governor), former Comptroller John Sharp, St. Rep Mark Strama, St. Rep. Valinda Bolton, County Commissioner Karen Huber, just to name a few. Statewide, County, District, and City Elected officials, writers, as well as political celebrities are part of our future scheduled programs.
The Lake Travis Democrats cover a large portion of the Lake Travis south shore area. We extend from Steiner Ranch, to Lakeway, Bee Cave, along 71, to Spicewood, and all areas in between. Whether you are new to the area, or have lived here for a while, we would like to encourage you to come and join us at our monthly meetings. And, besides our monthly meetings, if you choose to become a member, you will be invited to several members-only events. All of us with the Lake Travis Democratic Party invite you to become a part of our lively and ever growing group.
